The IEA magazine, "Take the Reins" is the official magazine of The Inter Scholastic Equestrian Association. This magazine is read by more than 5,000 middle school and high school equestrian athletes and trainers. In addition to the core readership, the magazine is also mailed to more than 300 IHSA head coaches and 1,000 tack shops and barns.

The magazine is printed four times a year. We print an issue in the Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring. We do not fit the profit mode of most magazine publications, because, unlike most magazines, we have a very limited page count. Since the IEA Board has editorial control of all magazine content, all advertisers must be approved by the Board. We must also follow a very strict ad-to-content ratio. These safeguards guarantee benefits to the reader and the advertiser alike.

The reader is assured a quality magazine that is more like a keepsake. Riders are featured in the magazine, and the articles are written with the young reader in mind. The savvy advertiser will fine that its ads will have a very extended shelf life and a limited number of advertisers to compete for each reader’s attention. It also gives the advertiser the opportunity to speak to young equestrian riders, who are just starting out on their equestrian journey.
